Summary
In the Edo period, Uryu Shinbei’s appeal to his feudal domain regarding corruption is denied, and he is forced to leave his hometown. Afterwards, his wife Shino falls fatally ill. Before she dies, she tells Uryu, “Please help Uneme.” Uneme and Uryu were once good friends. A rivalry between them is but one of the reasons Uryu was exiled.
